Rotastat
Tirofiban Hydrochloride 12.5mg/50ml Injection
Rotastat is an antiplatelet medicine used in the hospital management of acute coronary syndrome. It belongs to the glycoprotein IIb/IIIa receptor inhibitor class, working by blocking platelet aggregation to reduce the risk of thrombotic cardiovascular events during and after cardiac intervention.

Indication
Rotastat is indicated for the treatment of Non-ST-Elevation Acute Coronary Syndrome (NSTE-ACS) — including unstable angina and non-Q-wave myocardial infarction — particularly in patients managed with an early invasive strategy (percutaneous coronary intervention), to reduce the risk of combined cardiovascular ischemic events.
Clinical Evidence
In clinical trials of tirofiban in NSTE-ACS patients (PRISM-PLUS), tirofiban in combination with heparin and aspirin was associated with:
- 32% reduction in the composite endpoint of death, myocardial infarction, or refractory ischemia
- 30% reduction in death, MI, or refractory ischemia at 7 days
- ~70% reduction in the incidence of MI at 7 days
Administration
Rotastat is administered as a controlled intravenous infusion via infusion pump, typically with a higher initial (loading) rate followed by a lower maintenance rate, in combination with heparin and aspirin, strictly under physician supervision in a hospital or catheterization lab setting. Dilute before use; do not administer by any other route.
